Meet John

Welcome to The Well Clinic!

I look forward to helping you on your road to healing and hope. I have an eclectic approach to counseling utilizing Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, and Family Systems Theories. I believe the best approach is one that addresses the person as a whole but is specific for each individual.

My family has lived in Louisiana since 1988, where I earned my undergraduate degree from LSU and my Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor. I have extensive training in trauma-informed modalities, specialized training in EMDR, and almost 10 years working in addiction recovery.

Since 2008, I have worked in private practice, clinics, and school settings providing counseling to individuals of all ages, couples, and families. Recently, I had the privilege of  serving as Clinical Director, Family Therapist, and Veteran Program Director for The Serenity Treatment Center of Louisiana; investing in clients dealing with dual diagnosis and providing family support.

The counseling process is a deeply personal and, at times, difficult journey.  For anyone who is willing to trust me in this journey, I provide a safe environment where you can feel accepted and free to work on your healing. Everyone is unique, and every plan of care is created in collaboration with the client. No matter what your struggle is, there is a solution.

My area’s of interest include:

Trauma Recovery (sexual, spiritual, childhood, first responder, military, relational)
ADHD
Anxiety and Mood disorders
Marriage and Family Dysfunction
Life Transition difficulties
Addiction Recovery
Death, dying, grief
Spiritual Problems
Men’s issues

Some additional treatment services I offer are:
Pre-Marital counseling with PREPARE/ENRICH screening
Addiction Assessment
EMDR

Even though I moved many times growing up, living in Georgia, Colorado, and Oklahoma, I feel I am a Louisianian at heart, especially when eating some homemade gumbo. In my free time, I enjoy playing music, cheering for LSU, and hanging out with my gumbo cooking wife and 3 amazing kids.
